About TCH Emergency

The Canberra Hospital Emergency Department (TCHED) is one of the largest mixed EDs in Australasia, currently seeing over 65000 patients per year with a high acuity and broad casemix.

It is the tertiary referral centre and trauma centre for a huge area of South Eastern Australia.

TCHED is a teaching hospital affiliated with the Medical School of the Australian National University.

TCHED provides dedicated comprehensive education for all levels of students, nursing and medical staff and also provides critical care education to the region.

TCHED prides itself on a high quality of patient focused care and on its friendly and cohesive workplace.

Emergency Medicine Training

TCHED is accredited by ACEM for 24 months of advanced training. We provide a comprehensive education platform from basic training through to fellowship and have access to a wide range of non ED terms from NICU to Anaesthesia, Medical subspecialities and Paediatrics. We have a close association with the Capital Region Retrieval Service and commonly rotate senior advanced trainees to this aeromedical service.

TCH FACEMs are involved at varying levels in ACEM  committees and trainees have a dedicated ACT rep on the trainee committee.
